Why choose Seville for a getaway?
With more than 610,000 inhabitants in its urban core, Seville is a must for anyone who wants to enjoy Andalusian art, culture and gastronomy. The old town is full of unique places to walk with your dog and it is also the largest monumental old town in Spain. Moreover, the city has the peculiarity of having hosted two great expos: the Iberoamerican of 1929 and the Universal Expo of 1992, which meant a boost in the city's infrastructure such as the Plaza de España, the Parque de María Luisa or the whole conglomerate of the Isla de la Cartuja with its Olympic stadium.
Being crossed by the Guadalquivir River, Seville has the peculiarity of having the only seaport in Spain in an inland city. The Guadalquivir would not be the same as it passes through Seville if it did not have the famous Torre del Oro, a building with multiple uses throughout history and which dates back to the 13th century. Along with the Torre del Oro, the Cathedral of Seville, known worldwide for its bell tower called La Giralda, stands out.
What to do in Seville with a dog
Seville is gradually becoming a dog-friendly city. Nowadays, although it is not allowed to enter most museums and monuments with pets, you can take a stroll through the Mudejar Seville, the old town and the many parks such as Maria Luisa Park. This trend is reflected in the fact that more and more hotels in Seville are becoming dog friendly. Although unfortunately there are still not as many pet friendly hotels as in Barcelona. Moreover, during your walk you can always have a drink in the many terraces that you can find along your walk. We recommend visiting Calle Betis, which runs parallel to the Guadalquivir, and the Triana neighbourhood. If museums are your thing, the impressive Museo de los Carruajes (Carriage Museum), Delimbo or the Galeria Haurie.
